Ruined Loving An Alpha Male SK Lessly Books

This book was just a little too farfetched and over the top for me. The characters didn't seem plausible or real and the relationships seem by some of the characters were mainly male dominated. Mason - a billionaire/business entrepreneur/Navy Seal/MMA fighter. His character was overly cocky and arrogant and talked so much about himself while suffering with undiagnosed PTSD. And Allura/Max with her damsel in distress background who was a rehab nurse/bartender/singer. She sounded like she would have been a strong female character but she wasn't. Pining after a man that never even openly stated what kind of relationship they had beyond sex that she had to propose too only for him to leave her a shell of a woman for years later while he got his rocks off with someone new. What are the odds of her dad being involved in crimes that would have her get kidnapped and taken to South America. I didn't like how she stayed with these controlling men from Trip to Mason. This book was overly sexual too. That seemed to be the main interactions between Mason and Max. The same for AJ and Kat - she stuck with the ladies man and he refuses to let her go and seemed controlling as well.
Overall just not the story line I enjoyed.

Ruined Loving An Alpha Male SK Lessly Books Reviews

This book is so hot the pages almost sizzles. Mason is a real alpha male and really understands that he has found the woman of his dreams in Allura(AKA Maxine). He causes her heartbreak when he walks away from their relationship but thank goodness he gets his act together and claims the love of his life. There is a lot of sex but there's is also their own personal struggles and a great cast of friends who support them. Book was very aptly titled because both of them were ruined for anyone else.
I really liked this book. This is a great, detailed, intricate story about Mason, a former Navy SEAL & the love of his life, Allura Maxine or Max. After Mason got out of the Navy, he joins a gym to become a MMA fighter. We get to witness their intense physical passion that quickly turns into love. They both have some demons from their past to overcome and it takes several years for them to get to their HEA, in fact, I was afraid they'd never get to it! There are a wonderful set of secondary characters, including Mason's identical twin brother Marcus, one of Masons SEAL buddies, Alex, and Max's best friend Kat.

I saw that some of the other reviewers complained that the book was too long, but I didn't think so, the author takes her time to develop both the characters and the plot, so I didn't think the length of the book was excessive. There are some really passionate sexy scenes but what I really loved was the relationship between Mason and Max. This book is also really emotional, at times I was too thru with Mason, he could be such an AH at times, especially when he breaks Max's heart. Other parts made me cry, I won't spoil it but both Max and Mason lose loved ones close to them. My only complaint, and I know this is common in IR romance books, is their racial differences are barely mentioned in the book. I know that Mason and Max don't care, and I too believe love is love, but I don't think it's realistic that NO ONE has an issue with their racial differences. Well his former girlfriend Diane makes a snotty comment, but she's an AH so she doesn't really count. I think the racial stuff is avoided bc the focus of the story is romance and the writers don't want to turn off their audience, but a little realism doesn't hurt and I think it would make the stories more realistic. Still, it was a great story. It's my first book by this author but I will make sure I look out for her books in the future!
This is my review and how I see it. I wish I could say this is my first time reading Ruined, but that would be a lie. The first time Mason James West graced my eyes and mind was in December 2015 and I fell in love/lust with this character. Author S.K. Lessly did the dang thang with this character. Sure he pissed me off how he treated Max, but he more than made up for it in the end. This story is about love and finding it in the last place you would expect and with the least likely person, you would expect to find it with. It is also about fighting for that love that you really never let go of even thought one of you walked away.

This book is for anyone who likes to read books about love and know that sometimes it does conquer all.

This is my review and how I see it.
He's a man's man, all alpha all the way. PTSD, even though it was not mentioned in this story, was definitely the cause of Mason's darkness that he could not get out of his head. Only Allura Maxine Shaw could bring him out of that darkness. I love how S.K, wrote their love story. They had immediate attraction for one another but waited until the time was right for them as Max was in a relationship with a man that was crazy, probably due to steroid use even though that was not mentioned in the book either. It's the only explanation to why he went bonkers. I loved the way Max would sing and would just drive Mason crazy. I could really feel the electricity of attraction between them when she did.
When Mason loves, he loves true and hard, not just the woman in his life but all of the people he truly cares about. His thinking of staying away from Max after his revenge mission because of the darkness he was feeling, in order to protect Max, was the wrong thing for him to do. He totally smashed her heart by being gone for years and turning around and getting engaged to another woman. I don't understand how he could have done that even though he vowed that Max was the love of his life. I don't care if it was a business arrangement. I was mad as hell at him for that. My heart broke for Max when she realized that he was engaged to Dianne and when her friend died. S.K. really wrote the hell out of the scene where Mason was trying to get Max back after his 4 month South American trip. I was so happy they were able to get their HEA
This is one of my favorite love stories and I could re-read it over and over again. I just love a man who would go to the ends of the earth for the woman he loves and Mason actually did.
