Christmas Heirloom Karen Witemeyer Kristi Ann Hunter Sarah Loudin Thomas Becky Wade 9780764230783 Books
I ordered this book because I have loved stories that I had read by three of the authors (the fourth was brand new to me). I enjoyed the variety of settings and time periods in this collection, and I recognized some of the characters from previous books. This was a delightful way to spend an evening or two, and I confess to staying up past my bedtime to finish it.Kristi Ann Hunter's "Legacy of Love" takes us to Regency England, one of my favorite time periods. I especially loved how the relationship develops between these two characters, and we are introduced to the heirloom, a luckenbooth brooch.
"Gift of the Heart" by Karen Witemeyer takes us to Texas in the late 1800s. This story is a sweet one of second chances, and looking past the outside to the heart inside.
Sarah Loudin Thomas was a new author to me, and her "A Shot at Love" brought me to a time period that I don't often go to either. But I found her story charming, and I could even see some of myself in Fleeta, the main character.
Becky Wade's "Because of You" ties in with a series that I have been enjoying as well, set in modern day Washington. I also loved the second chance at love that was the theme of this story.
I would recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys any of the authors that are in it, and you may find a new author to enjoy as well. A sweet, clean Christmas read to enjoy this holiday season.

Christmas Heirloom Karen Witemeyer Kristi Ann Hunter Sarah Loudin Thomas Becky Wade 9780764230783 Books Reviews
As someone who is sentimental when it comes to family heirlooms, I adored this novella collection. Each of the stories is tied together by this heirloom brooch and it was wonderful to watch it make its way through the generations. Kristi Ann Hunter's Sarah Gooding was entertaining (quite literally as she was playing the piano in the opening scene) from page one. Karen Witemeyer's Ruth Albright proved to be a shrewd business woman who was determined to make her way on her own terms. Sarah Loudin Thomas' Fleeta Brady was so unconventional that I couldn't help but love her! And Becky Wade's Maddie Winslow is the perfect character to tide those of us over who are anxiously awaiting the next story in the Bradford Sisters collection. Maddie had been introduced in the novels so it was a delight to see her story play out.
Like most novella collections, I found this was sort of a mixed bag. I would rate it 3.5 stars, but averaged up. I liked the premise for the collection with the story of the brooch playing a part in each story. I had never read Kristi Ann Hunter or Sarah Loudin Thomas, liked both of their stories, and plan to seek out more from them. Karen Witemeyer's story was my least favorite. I liked her earlier books, but no longer feel much of a connection to her characters, this contribution included. Becky Wade is one of my favorite authors, but I also felt something was missing from her story. Things like over describing Christmas cookies as "gluten free" got annoying. I also felt the conversation between the two main characters often felt forced and unnatural. Disappointing since I have loved all of her other books. Ho-hum.
I initially wanted to read this 4 set of novellas because I saw that Karen Witemeyer, a favorite author, wrote one. Legacy of Love by Kristi Ann Hunter, an author yet to be read in my long “to be read list”, was a great start to the origin of the Luckenbooth brooch which ties the novellas together through the generations. Gift of the Heart by Karen was all that I come to expect from her. A Shot at Love by Sarah Loudin Thomas was another author on my list that had the most unique character named Fleeta, in the novella collection. Because of You is by Becky Wade. I read a story by her in the past. She was the contemporary part of the novellas. I tend to be drawn to historical fiction, but this may be my favorite novella as I felt I could identify with both main characters. I loved how the second chance aspect of the story evolved. All the stories kept me eagerly reading forward to find out the paths God would lead all the interesting female characters to true love, while in possession of a shared heirloom.
This is the first collection of novellas that I have read. (I admit to having a few more awaiting me in my to-be-read pile). What a delightful set of stories spanning from 1827 in England to present day Washington state, all taking place around Christmas time, and involving an heirloom brooch passed from mother to daughter. I loved everything about this book, three of the four authors were new to me, and I really enjoyed each story. As the brooch was passed down, the woman's initials and her wedding date were sewn into the bag that held the brooch. What an intriguing premise, we were treated to 4 of the women's stories in that almost 200 year span. I loved this book and highly recommend it as a lovely Christmas present, or anytime gift to yourself and/or someone who loves a good story (or four).
